End week from 21 to 23 May 2010 we were able to enjoy attending the Event Blog II Cazorla Rural City organized by our friend and collaborator Abraham López Moreno, creator of the blog Panoramic Cazorlense.
Among the activities proposed in this event, we have enjoyed as a main dish of the day on Saturday from a 4x4 route through the Sierra de Cazorla with start and end in the small village of Cuenca, near Pozo Alcon, which could also enjoy a special breakfast with typical products of the region in rural inn hotel Casería 7 sources.
At around 8:25 pm we set off on board the two Land Rover Defender driven by Pedro and Angel, two exceptional guides who know all the details, places and landscapes of this beautiful park of the Sierra de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas, with which we enjoy sharing good conversation and, above all, of which we learn many curious on this rural setting.
Once in place by asphalt in the direction of Quesada, a right we take our main forest track in good condition signposted River Birth Guadalquivir. The track evolves from Aleppo pines without major complications and overcoming moderate slopes.
Having overcome the 1400 meters of altitude see as the vegetation begins to change and the pine gives way to black pine, one of the most peculiar and characteristic of more than 2200 plant species that inhabit these forests. In these places, and particularly near the hill of Puerto Llano, one can find some examples of ancient black pine.
Turning now our journey toward the source of the river Guadalquivir. The place has a great beauty and had the opportunity to enjoy moments of relaxation and enjoyment in the beautiful recreation area enabled on this site, which fortunately are very quiet.
Regarding the Birth of the Guadalquivir River itself, the highlight is that we were lucky to find it flowing with spring water originates, largely thanks to the good rainfall this year , which is difficult to find in other dry seasons.
continue along the main forest road enjoying a pleasant conversation with Pedro, our guide, until the bird observatory in the hamlet of El Chorro. We were able to enjoy the exceptional views to the cliffs this place full of vulture and the vulture observation through the telescope that enabled Pedro, where we were even able to witness how a copy fed farming.
Continuing along the main forest road, we began our descent to enjoy an impressive view of the town of Quesada, and in some detail also very striking, as the stunning ammonite fossils that can be distinguished in some areas to the foot of the track.
soon get to play again the tarmac, and once the town of Quesada, we headed to the impressive sanctuary Tischler, as seen from the road and striking awe.
We stop at this location to also visit the Water Cave, an impressive natural formation as a cave, daunting and where they run several waterfalls. Marian apparitions are given here, and it is an object of worship and veneration.
little way now we had to finish our route, reaching the village of Cuenca at around 2:30 p.m., thus ending a memorable day in the Sierra de Cuenca.
